A member asked:

Going on birth control and am seriously considering getting the depo-provera shot, what are expert opinions on this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Can be good: Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) is a very reliable form of birth control, if a woman remembers to get the injection every 3 months. It is associated with irregular periods, but the longer a woman uses it the less bleeding she has. However some women will gain weight with this, and if the person doesn't like it it takes months for the hormone level to go away. A few women can get mood swings.
