Is there a reason that i have loss of bladder control only on my period?

Very uncommon: It's very uncommon to lose bladder control on one's period. I can think hormonal issue being the reason. You may want to talk to your doc about that since an exam would be needed to determine the nature of the problem.

Unclear: While i've never read published data regarding this phenomenon, I have heard different women describe this. Likely it's due to hormones, possibly estrogen, and prostaglandins, both of which increase during the menstrual cycle.
