Depends : Underlying source needs to be determined. If secondary to a certain condition treatment my take care of problem. If its due to thrombin, drugs like Coumadin (warfarin) may help. If its due to platlets , asprin or Plavix type of meds may be useful. Need more info. Arterial vs venous clots also are treated diffrently. Need more data.

So Coumadin (warfarin) thins the blood to prevent new clots from forming --is there anything in Coumadin (warfarin) to actively dissolve clot that are already formed or are?
Can Plavix (clopidogrel) prevent a blood clot forming due to AF? Can't take anticoagulants.
