"Pop" psychology: There's a non-evidence-based school of mental health (sadly, with political clout) that attributes most-if-not-all mental health issues to child abuse (perhaps "forgotten"). Truth is that many of the things about our minds & behavior that trouble us and others are genetic and/or learned in a non-abusive environment. Get with a competent physician &/or therapist who can be a "now"-focused guide.
