Sleep problems: Dear woodchuck, please let your prescribing physician know about this. I see you have taken antihistamines - if you use them for sleep there is a significant likelihood of rebound insomnia. Sometimes a higher dose of melatonin can help but this needs to be discussed with your doctor. In the meantime use excellent sleep hygiene. Retire & rise same time each day. Keep bedroom dark & cool & use only.

Why every other?: When i taper patients i lower the dose by 25 mg a night when they hit 100 mg. Talk to your doctor. I don't know why you were on seroquel (quetiapine) or what type of condition you are being treated for. Some insomnias can be chronic. Make sure you practice good sleep hygiene, consider other approaches other than melatonin. See a sleep physician if necessary or a cognitively trained sleep psychologist.
