Not the place: Congratulations on surviving hypoplastic left heart syndrome. Ultimately, the decision about whether to try to become a mother is yours. You must make it based on accurate information presented to you about your own physiologic parameters for your own repaired heart. There is no "one size fits all" set of directions for folks like you. See http://www.Ncbi.Nlm.Nih.Gov/pubmed/21087437.

Difficult: The risks to you and your fetus would be very, very significant. Risks would also depend on details of anatomy and physiology in your specific case. The article referenced by dr. Friedlander (http://www.Ncbi.Nlm.Nih.Gov/pubmed/21087437) is a very important one. Ultimately, our recommendations to you as doctors are just recommendations. If you understand the risks, the choice is yours alone.

HLHS: I'm assuming you have hypoplastic left heart syndrome. I see you live in Akron. Obviously, I don't know the specifics of your anatomy, condition, or care, but, in general, patients with HLHS cannot safely carry a pregnancy. For a full second opinion, call 216-444-6697 and ask for an appt with a specialist in Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) at the Cleveland Clinic. Warmest wishes.
