Hernia and liquor : Alcohol does not affect hernia immediatly, but alcohol is very high in nonnutritious calories and can make u gain a lot of belly fat and obesity which can make any hernia worse. Do not drink alcohol after surgery because it may interact with your post op medications and anesthesisa medications that can stay in the body a few dayus after the suegery.

Yes: Yes, but everything in moderation. Also, if you are taking narcotic pain medication after an operation, you should avoid alcohol consumption because it can more easily cause an overdose of either alcohol or narcotics. Hope this helps!
