Seek counseling : Living with someone with bipolar disorder can be unnerving at times. I have a family member with bipolar disorder. I refuse to be manipulated. Allowing yourself to be manipulated is not compassionate nor is it empathic. True empathy responds in a way that someone needs to be responded to, not how they want to be responded to. Seek counseling, learn about your partners true character traits. Attend local nami groups for support as well.

Bi-Polar: Bipolar is a very complicated disorder and to be a spouse of someone who suffers from this condition you need to expand your empathy to understand your wife's motives. Also it is necessary to set realistic limits when she is manipulative, be truthful, direct and tactful. Marital therapy could help significantly. My best.
