Is it possible to be allergic to a smell?

A doctor has provided 1 answer
Dr. John Chiu answered

Unlikely: A strong odor may irritate an already inflamed nose but it is not an allergen. Some people with vasomotor rhinitis may react to strong odors but this is not considered an allergic reaction.
