Drug Resistance: Even though Cipro (ciprofloxacin) 5oo mgm as a single dose has been recommended in past as an effective treatment for cure of gonorrhea, but it is not recommended these days due to increasing resistance to this drug.A single dose of Rocephin 250 mgm is the recommended antibiotic in 2013 due to increasing resitance to fluroquinolones like cipro, (ciprofloxacin) Levaquin etc.
