No: Arnold chiari malformation is the result of a malformation of the cerebellum and its relationship to the foramen magnum. Chiari type 1 may remain asymptomatic for a person's whole life.

Not usually: Chiari malformation does not usually disappear. Symptoms can spontaneously improve though.
