Overactive bladder: If urinary infection is ruled out as a cause for symptoms of urgency frequency, then there are several treatments for overactibe bladder that can be helpful. "bladder retraining" and medications are the treatments to try first. Botox and interstim are more invasive, more invasive and more expensive but sometimes help when simpler treatments have not. A health care provider should be consulted.

Anticholinergic meds: Most common ancholinergic (bladder muscle relaxant) medication is generic Oxybutynin er taken once a day. There are many others including vesicare, (solifenacin) Detrol etc. However, best 2B evaluated by an experienced urologist or uro-gynecologist including urodynamic studies. Need to rule out interstitial or bacterial cystitis before starting treatment. Do not rush into Botox or interstim.
