Not with depression: You should not be drinking alcohol if you have depression and especially not if you have blackouts. Gabapentin and alcohol are both central nervous system depressants. Together they are more likely to make you less coordinated and to diminish your response time. Never ever drink and drive. Be careful driving on gabapentin. Leave extra space between you and the car in front of you. Seriously consider an evaluation for alcohol abuse. There are many more treatments available now today than there have ever been in the past.

It is risky: Alcohol will not interfere with how gabapentin works or is metabolized, but the risk is that the combination of them may cause you to be excessively sleepy, groggy, or act drunk. If you choose to do this be VERY careful, limit your alcohol, and do not drive or make decisions.
