Period: In the us pregnancy is calculated based on the first day of your last period since very few if any women know their conception date. In a 28 day cycle ovulation typically happens in the middle so 2 weeks after the 1st day of the last period prior to pregnancy, so by the time you conceive you are considered already 2 weeks "pregnant" since the first day of last mentrual - a little confusing!
