NOT USUALLY: Cidp differs from guillain-barre, and may well be less dangerous to life and limb. Does typically present with bilateral proximal and distal limb weakness, and some sensory problems, but cranial nerve involvement is inconstant, and respiratory compromise is unlikely, and best considered rare.
