Several Concerns: There are several things that could be causing pain. You said you just had a physical, did they know about the pain during the exam? The pain may not noticeable during activities, as you are not focused on the pain. Without an exam and additional info, it could be intestinal, muscle or ligment strain, inguinal hernia or sports hernia, testicular issue, etc. Get it checked, sooner if worse.

Groin or Abdominal: Aching at rest but not during activity especially with lying down is a concern. Any fever, night sweats, unexplained weight loss? Any swelling in the area? A pre participation physical may not be adequate for this problem to be evaluated. Would recommend that you begin with your primary care doctor and make sure not something serious. Musculoskeletal problems usually will hurt during activity.
