Rib pain: Not sure what kind of pain you are experiencing in your ribs. More detail would help. It could be the pain from the uterus pushing on the organs and moving them up but that's a guess only.

Yes: Rib pain can definitely happen in the 2nd trimester. Every pregnancy is different so hard to say that something shouldn't happen until a certain time. Position of baby and activity of baby, as well as mom's anatomy can have lots of effects. Imagine a woman who is 5'10" tall at 27 weeks of pregnancy, and then a woman who is 5' 2". The length of their torsos varies and thus so would rib pain.
