Quit smoking...: Emphysema is a form of COPD and results in progressive airway obstruction. Your doctor can prescribe meds like bronchodilator and steroid inhalers that will control symptoms but it is incurable. Oxygen therapy will be prescribed if your oxygen level is low. The best thing you can do is to quit smoking to reduce ongoing airway inflammation and allow your airways to heal as much as possible.

Stop smoking: If you smoke, stop now. There are many medications which help reduce the symptoms of emphysema (copd). You should consult with your doctor about which regimens are appropriate for you. You may require supplemental oxygen. Pulmonary rehab programs are very helpful. Stay away from other smokers and dusty environments.
