Which is better to use, heat or ice?

Ice for acute injury: The goal after a recent injury is to limit swelling. Ice will help to limit the swelling and inflammation. Heat should be avoided until swelling has subsided. Heat generally is used to relax muscles prior to stretch or exercise.
