Thus: To reduce risk of getting cancer: lifestyle choices like eating well, avoiding obesity, exercising, and limiting alcohol intake may help. Preventative tamoxifen or Evista (raloxifene) are used in a select group of high risk patients and in very high risk patients (like brca carriers) there is the option of preventative mastectomies. To reduce risk of dying of cancer: screening mammos, self exams and md exams.
