At Your Birth?: Passing of diseases from mother to baby are possible. It is called vertical transmission. Certain illnesses can be passed this way, including stds like hiv, herpes, gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia or hpv. They usually result in eye or lung infections early after birth (except hiv). However, you would have likely been found to have these long before now. If concerned, get an std check up.
