It depends.: Some people with borderline personality disorder cannot tolerate being alone or feeling abandoned. This group would be better served by living with someone else who is understanding of and tolerant of their condition. Another group of borderlines simply cannot coexist with another human being without causing fights that can often be physical and lead to incarceration. Please remember that borderline is a broad category. It encompasses in essence many personality types which basically share the common traits of being stably unstable and predictably unpredictable.
