Beta HCG: Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) is produced by the placenta. Starting about 10 days after conception HCG is present in the blood or urine. This hormone is produced almost exclusively by the placenta only. Other signs that may indicate conception are an elevated Progesterone level, sore breasts, lower abdominal fullness, nausea. These are usually present with pregnancy but not always.
