A member asked:

What is the difference between herps simplex type 1 and type 2?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Very little: These viruses could be considered close relatives, brothers, due to quite similar dna and behavior. There is some consideration that type one more commonly effects the mouth, while type 2 the genitals. However, given human behavior, there are many chances for type 1 to attack the genitals and type two to end up in the oral region.
