Yes: Even though the total testosterone (t) level is "normal", one can still exhibit symptoms or low t. This is because t is bound to proteins and a certain percentage is freely circulating in the blood stream. Only a certain amount of t is active and able to have an effect on the body. This can be easily detected through a simple blood test in addition to a total t level.

Yes!: I am probably in the minority but i think of the normal range for testosterone (t) as a grading scale. Some people have t below the lower limit of normal, the equivalent of flunking. The rest are scattered in the normal range. If you're happy with how you feel, there's no need to check your grade. But what if you want to be your class valedictorian? Then even a b+ might take you out of running.
