True infection?: If you have symptoms of a bladder infection (burning, having to go urgently or frequently, sometimes fever, ill feeling or acting confused) only then should your urine be analized. If the analysis is suggestive of infection - your doctor will treat. If you are not having symptoms - leave your urine alone and submit another excellent question to health tap.

Depends on cause: Need to correct underlying cause, e.g., urinary obstruction, stones, diverticuli etc. Otherwise bladder infections are usually bacterial and treatable with antibiotics.

Antibiotics first: This is one where a folk remedy -- cranberry juice -- actually works and is part of evidence-based medicine. The mechanism of action is known; the pigment prevents bacteria from attaching to bladder wall. You'll want an antibiotic as well. Visit an old cemetery -- most of the women who died in young adult life did so in childbirth or as the result of urinary tract infections. Glad we can help.

Antibiotic treatment: Bladder infections should be treated for your sake & sake of your kidneys and bladder. Please take care of it.
