What does it mean when your period is brown the whole period and it's chunky and the chunks are black?

Old blood : Brown periods is old blood. The 'chunks' are just clots of blood that have oxidized and turned black in color. I don't know how old you are, but as women age they can have periods like this. Sometimes a hormone imbalance can cause irregular bleeding patterns, but definitely age can affect. Talk to your doctor if you're worried.
