Newer test available: Endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide) are heat-stable breakdown products of gram-negative bacteria as the main constituent of the outer cell membrane. Lal test has been the standard for years, only practical method for direct detection of endotoxin. Recently, a similar assay based on recombinant factor c has been introduced. An elisa test, endolisa reportedly has advantages over the established lal.
