Many answers: Irregular cycles occur in 15% of all women. It is difficult to determine why without proper investigation including hormone levels and ultrasound. Birth control periods are not "real"; they are drug induced. This is your baseline cycle and is not awful by itself unless other symptoms are occurring. Cycle irregularity may come into play once pregnancy is attempted.
