A member asked:

If one finger is shorter than the rest-- is this a birth defect?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not sure what mean?: My pinky finger is shorter than all my other fingers too! do you mean one that should be longer, like your middle finger, is shorter? If that is the case and you were born that way, it could be considered a birth defect. There are defects known as reduction defects that limit limb length, and can be quite dramatic or just a little shortness in a finger. Sound familiar? Hope this helps!
