Heat, NSAIDs, rest: Piriformis muscle is just below the lower edge of the buttock. Press and roll a golf ball or marble around this area to pinpoint tender areas. Once you've done this, applying pressure to tender areas with the ball or marble can help release the taut muscle. Heat over tender areas, Ibuprofen and other nsaids help. Avoid vigorous flexion & extension of affected leg at the hip.
