Need more info: How was mild scarring diagnosed? If ct, probably quite accurate. Need to stop smoking - it does damage lungs and greatly increases your chances of lung cancer.

See pulm specialist: I understand your fears but this will best be managed by seeing a pulmonary specialist who can provide you with more direct answers after an evaluation. Further testing may be warranted and will likely be the best way to put your worst fears to rest. Guessing will only make this worse.
