It's complicated.: Caring for someone in pain can lead to complicated dynamics. If it is short term for acute injury, do things like listening, ice/heat, meds, support, etc. If you are helping someone for long term in a chronic painful condition, it is probably worth talking to a pain psychologist for tools. Sometimes people with the best intentions can create co-dependency or enabling behaviors.
