Yes it does: The anopheles mosquitoes have been around for 150 million years and now have about 460 species. Beside malaria, some species can also carry filarial worms, various arboviruses, onyong-nyong, tataguine, equine encephalitis, canine heartworm- dirofilaria immitis, as well as other viruses.
