Abdominal itch: First it;s important to determine the cause—contact dermatitis from elastic or metal, drug reaction from topical cream/lotion, fungal infection from damp, dark skin folds, etc. Otc antihistamines like benadryl, (diphenhydramine) claritin, zrytec may be enough for itching/hives; topical corticosteroid (cortaid, et al) can sooth itch & redness. {remember, a little steroid goes a long way; use the least amount needed.
