Blackheads: Tea tree oil kills the propionibacterium acnes, or p. Acnes, bacteria that can cause blemishes. Acne is the result of hair follicles on the skin clogged by overproduction of oil or dead skin cells. Tea tree oil unclogs the follicles and sloughs off dead skin cells. Conventional therapy includes prescription epiduo or ziana.
