A member asked:

Are any antidepressants likely to cause late menstrual periods?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Meds and menses: Possible. The brain medications that are the most notorious for altering hormones, menstrual cycling, & therefore also bone calcium absorption, are the atypical neuroleptics (risperdal, olanzapine, abilify, (aripiprazole) etc.). If your period is late, please do not assume it is due to medication. Please have a pregnancy test, see your md, and discuss the cause. This way, you will and your md can make a plan!
