Because you need it.: Some patients recover fully from their first depressive episode. In some others, this is not possible because they have a chronic form of the disorder and may need antidepressants for life. The best way to address this is to accept your condition and focus on complying with your treatment like you would with any other medical condition. Good luck.

A Fresh Look: Apart from taking anti-depressants, i wonder what else u've tried 2 help improve ur mood & motivation. As the saying goes, "pills are not skills." if there are aspects of ur life that u're not happy w/ but have not yet discovered how 2 change, &/or if u feel u might benefit from learning new skills 4 coping w/ challenges in ur life, consider working w/ a psychologist/other mental health clinician.

Cure: Because medication rarely is the one factor that "cure" this symptoms; in a sense meds are just masking the problem, but in a way that you remain functional and asymptomatic. And that is precisely the best moment to start therapy and make changes in your life. This approach gives the best chances of hopefully, if possible one day, be off meds if your dr recommends it.
