Based on stability: Hospitalization with anorexia usually is a result of symptoms, unstable vitals, physical findings, laboratory work, ekg abnormalities, suicidality, or a body mass index (bmi) with many physicians considering admission for refeeding with a bmi below 17, even with stable vitals. Anorexia has the highest death rate of any psych condition and physicians need to monitor patients very closely.
