Possibly : If period is different in some way it is always a good safe thing to check for pregnancy at least with a home test.

The brown discharge: may be old blood being cleaned from the uterus. If the bleeding only lasted for a few hours and then stopped & you haven't had your normal period, then taking a home pregnancy test makes sense.
