Do people with altitude illness have a lot of pain?

Pain?: High altitude illness (hai) is the collective term for the syndromes affecting the brain and lungs that can occur following an initial ascent to high altitude or after a further ascent from an existing high altitude. They involve extravascular fluid accumulation in the brain and lungs. Acute mountain sickness is the most common, involving headache. Sudden death may occur without descent or oxygen.

Possible Headache: The headache of altitude illness is often fierce and pounding. Some describe it as a hangover headache. More serious high altitude cerebral edema (hace) does not involve pain but confusion, imbalance, unconsciousness, ; death. High altitude pulmonary edema (hape) may cause chest tightness but mostly shortness of breath, cough, fluid in lungs ; also likely death unless brought quickly down.
