A member asked:

Do lots of people get symptomatic dermatographism, or is it unusual?

No: Dermographism is one of the physical urticarias. The etiology is not really known and treatment is symptomatic-antihistamines to decrease the itch scratch cycle that leads to the hives, and rubbing gently rather than scratching when skin itches.
