Not direct connected: While it does indicate you are in puberty, it does not signal anything specific as you suggest, except perhaps progress of sexual maturation.

No: Your growth spurt usually starts a little bit earlier in your pubertal development than sexual manifestations such as wet dreams. First thing you would have noticed when hormones started was increase in size of your testicles, then penis size as well as increasing bone size/muscle mass. Then you enter into the "growth phase" and then sexual maturation. May times these phases overlap, though.
