Only an addict....: I mean that with a smile on my face. If you made a list of how to improve your cholesterol then red wine would be at the very bottom of possible things to help. Diet, exercise, medications to lower cholesterol are at the top of the list. You can protect your heart and your arteries a lot better than drinking wine. I am very proud to hear that you are sober and in recovery. Congratulations.

Yes: Red wine contains interesting molecules, but anyone who tells you this is the best way to lower cholesterol is joking with you. One of the key "red wine" papers was a fraud. Your physician has almost certainly recommended diet, exercise, and perhaps a statin (use only if the others fail and get a 2nd opinion). Very glad you are recovering -- this move will be a greater plus than anything else.
