A member asked:

What causes some people to get addicted to alcohol while others can drink and not get addicted?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Alcholism: There is evidence that some people inherit a genetic structure that makes them prone to alcholism. If alcholism exists in your family your chances, if you drink, are increased versus someone who has no alcholism in their family tree. High tolerance or the aha feeling upon initially drinking often indicates you may have the genetic makeup. There are many expert books on alcholism available.
