Spasm: The uterus can spasm anytime during the month causing this kind of pain. Also, there are pelvic muscles that can spasm as well as the bladder or rectum all of which can radiate pain to the sides of the pelvis. If this continues, you may need a pelvic examination to see if you can isolate the cause. But, since these come and go quickly, they are hard to isolate.
