Normal: It depends on your average periods. 4 days in not unusual. It is often dependent on the fluctuating amount of Progesterone in your body. Continue to log the length of your periods. It should not prevent you from becoming pregnant. The anxiety of wanting to become pregnant can also decrease period days.

When : When counts days in a menstrual cycle - the first day of full flow bleeding is usually considering cycle day 1. In a typical 28 day cycle - ovulation occurs on cycle day 14 but may vary +/- days. In general, i recommend starting to have intercourse around cycle day 9-10 and having intercourse every other day for a week.
If you have a 21 day cycle - ovulation can be occuring earlier than cd14, so you may consider starting to have intercourse as soon as your menses stops and every other day for about 7-10 days.
I hope this helps!

No: A home pregnancy test should be positive by now. If there is any doubt then a blood test is the most sensitive and will be positive even a few days before you miss your period.

Cycle control : Any obgyn can give you treatments to shorten or lighten your periods. Most treatments will also prevent pregnancy. You will have to decide which is more important at the young age of 20--- getting pregnant now or controlling long cycles.

Cycle day 12-14: If you have a regular 28 day cycle, your most fertile time is from cycle day 12 to 14, with cycle day 1 being the first day of your period. You should notice a clear, egg white like mucus during that time.
