Al-Anon: I love this question and appreciate that you took the time to ask it. Your story is not unusual or uncommon. The problem, despite many alcoholics being big personality people, can be the pain and agony living with or loving an addict can be. There is a program that recognizes the 'disease' of loving addicts and works on a solution for them. It is found in al-anon. I would check it out.
