Unknowns: The greatest cause for stigma and mistreatment of others is the unknown and unpredictability of some disorders. People often lack the basic understanding of mental health issues and see others who suffer with mental illness as 'odd' or 'abnormal' because they don't look like us or act like us. Also, conventional wisdom or advise doesn't often work or help and leads discrimination.
