Constipation: The bloat and gurgling can be due to the gas caused by his constipation. I would give him an enema or two to clean him out and then start him back on miralax (polyethylene glycol). Also he should increase fhe fiber in his diet and decrease milk and milk products.

Retraining the bowel: Constipation is a functional blockage as transit has slowed to the point too much moisture is removed from poo, and emptying becomes irregular and incomplete. An initial enema and scheduled emptying twice daily can start the process of rehabing the bowel. Miralax (polyethylene glycol) is a wetting agent and takes around 3-4 days to reach the target areas. You may need to use it daily for 6 mo to maintain any progress.
